NOTICE BY PUBLICATION
A Complaint for Custody and Special Immigrant Juvenile Status was filed with the Circuit Court for Montgomery County on January 17, 2025. The Complaint alleges in substance: 1) Plaintiff is the biological mother of Jacqueline Marlene Sosa Pineda, born on November 18, 2005, in El Salvador ("Minor Child"); 2) Defendant is the biological father of the Minor Child; 3) Defendant abandoned the Minor Child when she was one year old as he was an alcoholic but refused to seek help for his addiction; 4) Since that time, Defendant never sought to visit, attempt to communicate with, or financially support the Minor Child and saw the Minor Child on two occasions by happenstance; 5) Defendant is not a fit and proper parent and reunification between Defendant and the Minor Child is not viable due to abandonment and neglect; 6) It is in the best interest of the Minor Child to be placed in the sole custody of Plaintiff and not to be returned to El Salvador. Plaintiff seeks sole legal and physical custody of the Minor Child and also seeks factual findings that would enable the Minor Child to apply for Special Immigrant Juvenile Status.
It is this 20th day of March, 2025, ORDERED, that the Plaintiff cause a copy of this Notice to be published at least once a week for three consecutive weeks in a newspaper of general circulation published in El Salvador; publication to be completed by May 10, 2025 Defendant must file a response on or before June 19, 2025; Defendant is warned that failure to file a response within the time allowed may result in a default judgment or the granting of the relief sought.
